Psychotherapy Services for Emotional Disorders

Adolescents and Children
  • It can be devastating for a family when a child or adolescent suffers from symptoms of emotional disorders. Parents often vacilate between wondering if their child is merely "going through a difficult phase" to feeling helpless because they sense that something is very wrong and they don't know where to turn.
  • Childhood and Adolescence are crucial developmental periods that are finite and can never be recaptured. Therefore it is crucial that children and adolescents develop and thrive in the healthiest possible manner.
  • Parents often describe years of trying to get help for their child, trying the whole range of  interventions suggested by professionals, having to deal with frequent calls from schools, feeling guilty that they may have caused the problems, feeling others judge them, attributing their child's problems to ineffective parenting skills and feelings of isolation because no one seems to understand what is happening in their families.
Sherri G. Harris has expertise in working with children and adolescents who experience severe symptoms of anxiety including Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, attachment issues, attention problems, poor social skills, acting out and emotional outbursts.
